Charlie McKerron, renowned fiddle player with Capercaillie and Session A9, has been performing with guitarist Marc Clement for over 20 years. After meeting piper and whistle player Ross Ainslie through various sessions, Charlie invited him to join the group around a decade ago. For this performance, they are joined by Charlie’s son Cailean, an accomplished pianist, fiddler and singer who recently joined Skipinnish. Charlie describes the combination of Cailean and Marc’s guitar and piano styles as “electric” , while Ross adds, “I love the improvisation thrown in, there is freedom within the music. ”
Charlie is currently working on a solo album featuring music from this line-up alongside contributions from other Celtic and world musicians.

After 35 years as a local public sector NHS Orthopaedic surgeon, Sean retired two years ago from his Highland clinical practice. Since that time, he has linked with Scottish colleagues and local Zambian surgeons to work with a pro bono Orthopaedic charity based in Zambia.
